Seat Ibiza (1984–1993) and Renault 5 (1972–1996) in Iran (?–2002–)

( Renault 5 as the Iranian SAIPA P.K , built up until today.) The Renault 5 is a compact car that even made its way over to the U.S. under the name " Le Car ," thanks to AMC Motors, despite the fact that Americans never really had much of a taste for French cars. The Renault 5 also came in a super cool and seriously powerful model called the Renault 5 Alpine (known as the Gordini in the UK) and the Renault 5 Alpine Turbo. It was even produced in Iran by SAIPA and Pars Khodro Motors as the Sepand all the way until 2002. These same Iranian manufacturers have kept building it right up to today under the names Renault P.K. and New P.K. My preschool teacher drove a SEAT Ibiza , a cute little car that was produced until 1993. And let me tell you, you can really pimp this one into something super cool! The Nanya Eagle/Nanjing Fia t and Soyat Hatchback are pretty much identical to the SEAT Ibiza I’ve mentioned before, but they were produced in China up until around 2010 or even l...

Various Fiat 600 1955-1985!

Fiat 600 , now lemme tell ya, that was my daddy's first ride when he got his wheels back in the sixties. It was this mighty fine German-licensed version called the Neckar Jagst 770 . And down in the old Yugoslavia, they kept crankin' 'em out till '85, under the names Yugo Zastava 750 and 850. "Now, these little cars? You can really make 'em shine and sparkle! Throw on a picnic basket or a surfboard on top, and how 'bout headin' straight to the beach with some real fine ladies in tow?" Oh, and by the way, my uncle's got this killer pic of my daddy test-drivin' a slick Neckar Jagst 770 on the track. I'd sure love to get that thing framed.

Opel Omega mk1 1986-1993, Opel Kadett, Opel Kadett gsi 1989-1993

One of my old teachers used to drive a 1991 Opel Kadett . I always thought his car looked downright ugly and boring as hell. I even thought it was way older than 6 years at the time, back around 1997, when I found out its actual age. The real issue might’ve been the teacher himself—he was a grumpy, strict, and angry fella who’d get mad in a heartbeat if things weren’t just right. So, it’s possible it’s my old, boring teacher’s fault that I associate that car with dullness. A few years later, around 1999, I saw an Opel Kadett GSI Cabriolet at the dealership where my folks bought a new car. That thing stayed parked there for at least half a decade before it disappeared from the used car section at Citroën. Another female teacher I had around the same time, who was super nice, bought herself an even older Opel Kadett that had been traded in for a bunch of parts worth 15,000 kroner more than what she paid for it! The same model as that teacher's Opel Kadett ended up slamming into my d...
