Land Rover Defender!

Bilde
The Land Rover Defender became the epitome of the term 'status tractor' during the yuppie era in the 1980s, only rivaled by the Mercedes Benz Geländewagen. The Land Rover Defender maintained pretty much the same design from 1948 to 2016, with a minor tweak in 1983. However, from around 2016 to 2017, the Defender looks downright unrecognizable. This transformation occurred after those quirky folks at Tata Motors in India, who now own Land Rover, insisted on ruining the vehicle with an entirely new model that bears no resemblance to the original. Now, some neighbors of mine back where I grew up owned a Land Rover Defender from the '70s, just sitting there in the yard. It sat there gathering dust and rotting away, much to my dismay! The neighbors seemed completely clueless about cars. And if that's not enough to make you want to pull your hair out, they also threw several parties where the dreadful band deLillos played on repeat! After enduring this for several years, som...

Trabant 1957-1991!

Bilde
Trabant is a car that rolled out of Germany's factories until '91. Now, you could pimp this ride with a surfboard or a picnic basket on the roof, or just straight-up style it and drop in a mean Audi engine. Trabant, mind you, was mostly churned out in the '60s and '70s, a far cry from the days of today's fancy environmental buzz, but hey, they did have a recyclable cotton body. Volkswagen scooped up Trabant around '90. Right after, the assembly line came to a halt, but nowadays, it's Volkswagen holding the rights. I reckon they've flirted with the idea of kickin' the production back into gear every now and then. By the way, Trabant made a cameo in a TV show called 'The Mystery of the Living Corpse' that aired on norwegian  channel named NRK. Back when I was a kid, I was more into Trabant than the mystery, I tell ya!"

Bilde
Several Norwegian Volvo 240 cop cars snapped in the early '80s during a delivery to the Norwegian police. Howdy again to all you car enthusiasts on my car blog. This post is dedicated to stories about any kind of car, even those foreign ones. Now, we all know that the Volvo 240 is the absolute icon of car enthusiasts, especially in Norway. I reckon most of us have a bunch of 240 stories lying around somewhere, especially the one about the teacher's 240. But did y'all know that the Volvo 240 turns 50 in 2024? And it's been 30 years since it went out of production this past year. I reckon there are still some folks who know that, right? Now, right before the 240 stopped rolling off the assembly line in May '93, Volvo made its own batch for the Lillehammer Olympics in Norway a year later. Not many folks know that bit. The Lillehammer models of the 240 were a bit simpler in design compared to the Volvo 850s and the other Olympic cars they had during the Lillehammer ...
