"Yugos Zastava and other Fiat licenses, y'all!"

The cars in these pictures are Fiat models built under license from various car manufacturers around the
world, from Poland to Egypt. These models were in production well into the 2000s.
These are some really cool retro cars that can be pimped out to be totally awesome!
A crazy Greek guy I know grew up with a Yugo Zastava back home in Greece. Yugo Zastava was
attempted to be imported to the USA by an equally crazy American, but these cars were a flop in the
American market. However, the car managed to achieve cult status when it had a starring role in the
movie "Drowning Mona" in the year 2000. The car was also used as a police car in certain states in the
USA. And who would have thought that a Soviet vehicle from former Yugoslavia would have such a role
in the USA?

In the picture above, you can see a genuine Fiat 127 on which the Yugo Zastava is based.
My mom actually owned one of these in the 80s. Unfortunately, I never got to experience it myself as it
was scrapped long before I was born. Turns out, it was a lousy purchase and only lasted for 2 months
before it ended up in the junkyard. One example of its failure was when Mom got stuck in a ditch and the
car was hanging by the seat belts. But maybe it was more due to the road conditions than the car itself, as
it had good front-wheel drive for its time and was known to be easy to drive.

(Polski Fiat 131, I saw this car for the first time in my old neighborhood, and it had black Polish license
plates with a possibly cute Polish girl behind the wheel).

(Nasr Fiat 128, was built under license in Egypt. The Yugoslav Yugo Skala model of this car was built in
2003).

"Well, looky here! That’s a Yugo Zastava from the old Eastern Bloc Yugoslavia, and it’s even used as a police car right here in the good ol’ USA. Who would've ever thought that?"

"Over a Zastava Skala model with British plates."
