VW CitiGolf - South Africa!

Bilde
(A lot of cars are exported to Africa, but here's a car that would be fun to import back to Norway.) Ah, the good ol' first-gen Volkswagen Golf from the '70s!  My dear uncle owned a green one with a seriously cool stereo system from the Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. Sadly, I never got to experience it firsthand, being born almost a decade later in the '80s. The VW Golf was a real hit in its time, especially in the '70s, '80s, and '90s. In South Africa, they kept the love going by producing it as the Citigolf until 2007, and it's still a big deal there. Now, let's talk about my high school days when I majored in cars with Mr. Rolf the teacher, the Golf enthusiast. Sounds like he had a serious case of Golf fever! We mostly just worked on VW Golfs. And that expression, "driving Golf with Rolf"? Yeah, I'd bet it originated right there. (My uncles VW Golf)

Toyota Hiace MK5 and MK6

Bilde
Y'see them Toyotas in them first two snaps? Well, they were the last of their breed to roll off the lots in the West. Production came to a screechin' halt 'cause of that Japan nuclear plant mishap. Them rides were a hit in places like Finland, the British Isles, Sweden, and Norway. And Norway was the final stop on the European tour before the curtain dropped on this model. "Now, them Toyota Hiace Mk5 and Mk6, well, they're just plain cool for gettin' sideways. You can whip 'em 'round with either four-wheel or rear-wheel drive. And if you're feelin' fancy, you can spruce 'em up with some '80s chrome tail fins, tinted windows, extra lights, and a dangly wünderbaum. The other Hiace you see there, well, it kept on truckin' till 'round 2018-2019, albeit abroad." This here's a camper version of the MK4, kickin' up dust overseas, lookin' mighty familiar like that ride I done mentioned in them earlier blog posts . Down b...

Nissan Vanette, Mazda E 2000 and Mazda Bongo!

Bilde
(That's the kind of car a norwegian actor called Helge Jordal drives in the norwegian movie Blücher. The exact same car was produced until 1999/2000 in Asia.) Nissan Vanette, Mazda E2000, and Mazda Bongo , the stars of the show until around 2010. That cool van in the retro pic, featuring the stylish lady in the front and a somewhat dull guy in a typical '80s outfit, had its moment in the Norwegian film "Blücher" back in 1988, starring Helge Jordal. Some of the coolest scenes were shot on Riksveg 285 in Lier in Norway, cruising up side roads and dirt paths, including one leading to the old hangout spot Lindeberget. Perfect for your future travel blog plans! While these rides were sold by Nissan in Asia until around 2010, unfortunately, they weren't available in Norway after 1990. Mazda Bongo and Mazda E2000, similar types of awesome rides, proved their cool factor in pictures taken at a summer/ski destination, complete with a half-naked babe rocking boots and carry...

Mercedes 310, 1977-1995!

Bilde
Well, now, the Mercedes 310 (1977 - 1995) was a ride used as a maxitaxi well into the '90s. It also had a gig as what they call a "svartemarje" by the Norwegian cops from the late '80s to the late '90s, wich brought inmates to prison. It even showed up as one in the Norwegian flick " Evas Øye " from '99. But despite all that, I reckon you could turn this boxy beast into one slick gear heads- car. Just slap on some tinted windows and hang some "wunderbaum" air fresheners, and bam! You got yourself a head-turner! 3 pictures above: an old Mercedes T1 with old DH Oslo Plates from the mid 90s An Old Mercedes Benz T1 from an old Norwegian TV Series from 1993. The car has DF Oslo Plates from the late 1980s. Well lookee here! Thats there`s A Mercedes Benz T1 from the Norwegian movie Evas Øye. It has old DF Oslo Plates from the early 90s. The Volvo 240 has old CE Lillestrøm plates.

Hyundai Galloper/Mitsubishi Pajero!

Bilde
(The Galloper version of the Pajero was produced with an 80s design all the way until 1997. You can import this from overseas, and it can be decked out with a winch, wide tires, and lights in the grille.) (Back in the early '80s, folks on the homesteads were drivin' Mitsubishi Pajeros like that. The grille looks a lot like my old man's Mazda) Hyundai Galloper and Mitsubishi Pajero , rolling since 1982 and rocking that '80s design until '97. Mitsubishi Pajero, a beast of a car that I've always seen as a ghostly presence from the days of high cigar-fueled swagger in the '80s, with all those yuppies and whatnot. I remember a girl in elementary school, a few years older, whose mom cruised around in a Mitsubishi Pajero. She was a doctor in the local clinic, living the good life. They also had an '80s version of the Mercedes T, so no hardships there. Fast forward to the 2000s, on a trekking adventure with your folks all around Asker and Bærum. Obsessively cha...
