First gen Renault Trafic got made up till 'bout 2000, with that 90s look but runnin' on 50s guts and drivin' feel. We used it as a work truck back in high school, and it could only muster 40-50 kilometers an hour up Lierbakkene. It was so bad we had to crawl along in the slow lane meant for big ol' rigs weighin' thirty times as much!
Now, that ain't exactly a boast for this here truck, especially considerin' its horsepower ain't much to write home about. But ya can get the Renault Trafic MK1 as a 4x4, and it's easy to trick it out with a bull bar like in the picture, and probably a whole lot more.
Even though it's real slow, it's got a beefy diesel engine. It can haul real heavy loads and is tough as nails. The engine's either 2.1 or 2.5 liters of diesel, though no turbo on it.
We took our school truck, a 1994 Renault Trafic MK1, to see what it could do, and it tapped out around 160 kilometers an hour comin' down from Asker center. The speedo needle was shakin' like crazy, and the engine was makin' an awful racket. So, that was a one-time deal. Cruisin' speed for a Renault Trafic MK1 is 'round 80-90, tops out at 100 on country roads, and about 90-110, maybe 130 tops on the highway. So, that truck sure got a workout that day!

The Renault Master, stepping up the size but keeping that '80s design until 1997. It's like the big brother of the Trafic, sharing the same engine. Fast forward to today, and the company you're about to join has a 2014 model as a food truck—talk about a modern twist!
Now, the pre-1997 Renault Master had some serious credentials—it served as the black maria for the French police and an ambulance for the British health system. It even had its moment in the spotlight in a bunch of French and British films, playing the role of both the black maria and the ambulance. And the one from before '97 can handle some serious upgrades or an aggressive driving style.
Thinking about a Trafic with four-wheel drive? Check out this video, and you might just be convinced! The Renault Master and Trafic, both in their own way, are like the stars of the road, making waves on-screen and off.
