Mercedes Benz Gelandewagen & Santana PS10 Anibal & Iveco Massif!

Howdy! So, we're talking about some serious off-road machines here - Mercedes Benz Geländewagen, Santana PS10 Anibal, and Iveco Massif. Now, the Geländewagen, it's been around since '79, still rocking almost the same look. Back in the 80s, these bad boys were a status symbol, especially for the Wall Street crowd. Over here, folks called them "børstraktor" 'cause only the stock market big shots could afford 'em. Even our politicians were rolling in 'em, using 'em for military stuff. Check out this link for a used Geländewagen being sold by the military up in Finnmark in Norway. It's been used by civil defense, so it's in top-notch condition!

Now, in 2002, I was on a bike ride near Sjølyst when I spotted a sweet Geländewagen, a 10-seater minibus, cruising from Sjøllyst towards the Kielhavna ramp. Suddenly, it goes up in flames, and the driver, all dressed up in a suit and tie, had to bail out to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher. Luckily, the ride came equipped with one. Fun fact: the Geländewagen also served as the Pope's ride in the Vatican!

Now, let's talk about the Santana PS10 Anibal, a Spanish take on the Land Rover Defender. You can pimp it out with tinted windows, air fresheners, dice, wide wheels, cool bull bars, and side steps!

And then there's the Iveco Massif, another Defender cousin, built under license by Fiat's truck company Iveco around 2008-2009. Same deal - you can deck it out in style. These rides aren't just vehicles; they're statements!

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class (Geländewagen) was also licensed by companies like Peugeot and Panhard. For a long time, I had a teacher who owned a pretty beat-up G-Class from 1981, which had been imported to Norway in 1984 and leaked from the roof. He used to talk about versions that were produced under the name Steyr-Puch. I also remember seeing some of those on my way home from school around that time.
